Prawn Power

Far away in the tropical waters of the Caribbean, two prawns were swimming around in the sea – one called Justin and the other called Christian.

The prawns were constantly being harassed and threatened by sharks that inhabited the area. Finally one day Justin said to Christian, “I’m fed up with being a prawn, I wish I were a shark, then I wouldn’t have any worries about being eaten.”

Then a large mysterious cod appeared and said, “Your wish is granted” – and, lo and behold, Justin turned into a shark.

Horrified, Christian immediately swam away, afraid of being eaten by his old sea mate. Time passed (as it invariably does) and Justin found life as a shark boring and lonely.

All his old mates simply swam away whenever he came close to them. Justin didn’t realize that his new menacing appearance was the cause of his sad plight.

While swimming alone one day he saw the mysterious cod again and he thought perhaps the mysterious fish could change him back into a prawn.

He approached the cod and begged to be changed back, and lo and behold, he found himself turned back into a prawn.

With tears of joy in his tiny little eyes Justin swam back to his friends and bought them all a cocktail. Looking around the gathering at the reef he realized he couldn’t see his old pal. “Where’s Christian?” he asked.

“He’s at home, still distraught that his best friend changed sides to the enemy and became a shark”, came the reply.

Eager to put things right again and end the mutual pain and torture, he set off to Christian’s abode. As he opened the coral gate memories came flooding back. He banged on the door and shouted, “It’s me, Justin, your old friend, come out and see me again.”

Christian replied,”No way man, you’ll eat me. You’re now a shark, the enemy, and I’ll not be tricked into being your dinner.”

Justin cried back “No, I’m not. That was the old me. I’ve changed…. I’ve found Cod. I’m a Prawn again, Christian.”

UNRWA inciting jihad violence against Israel in its Jerusalem schools

Quote

“Perhaps unbeknown to many Israelis is the shocking fact that only 12 minutes from downtown Jerusalem by light rail, a neighborhood exists within the city’s jurisdiction in which Arab children are being taught that they will one day destroy Israel and replace it with a Palestinian state.” It’s being done under the auspices of the UNRWA.

The Center for Near East Policy Research has more revelations about schoolbooks for children in grades 1 through 12, published by the Palestinian Authority: “Palestinian pupils are taught that ‘struggle for liberation’ is not limited to the areas of the West Bank and Gaza strip, but rather the whole country from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea.” Israel’s name is also replaced with the “Zionist entity” or the “Zionist occupation.” Jews are characterized as a hateful “ethnic group” with no history, and the books teach that violence against Israel and Jews is necessary to defend Islam and its holy places.

In 2013, teachers at UNRWA summer camps were caught on film, “declaring ‘Jews are the wolf’,” and that the children “will one day conquer Israeli cities by force.”

Palestinian children have been attending jihad summer camps; Hamas has been teaching the murder of Jews for ages. But this is coming from the United Nations.

Preparing for Peace – The Palestinian Way

While the Palestinian Authority (PA) continues to arrest and intimidate Palestinian journalists in the West Bank, its loyalists are also waging a campaign against Arab journalists who dare to visit Israel.

This month alone, the PA security forces have arrested nine Palestinian journalists, according to the Palestinian Committee for Supporting Journalists.

One of the journalists, Yousef al-Faqeeh, 33, a reporter for the London-based Quds Press News Agency, was taken into custody on January 16. On January 27, a PA court ordered al-Faqeeh remanded into custody for 14 days. His family said that they still do not know why he was arrested.

Al-Faqeeh’s wife, Suhad, said that PA security officers raided their house; when Yousef asked whether they had a search warrant, they proceeded to arrest him. “They took him to an unknown destination and did not provide a reason for his arrest,” she said. “They also confiscated his computer and mobile phone.”

Amnesty International Calls on Online Tourism Companies to Delist Judea and Samaria

Quote

Amnesty International on Tuesday released a study called “Destination: Occupation,” in which it urged tourism giants Airbnb, Booking.com, TripAdvisor and Expedia to erase Jewish listings, activities, attractions, and accommodations from their sites if they are located in Judea, Samaria or eastern Jerusalem.

“In doing business with settlements, all four companies are contributing to, and profiting from, the maintenance, development and expansion of illegal settlements, which amount to war crimes under international criminal law,” said Amnesty International.

Today, more than 800,000 Jews live in Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem—approximately 12 percent of all Jews in Israel.

Palestinians’ Anti-Semitic Stereotyping of Jews

Quote

Palestinians are continuing to use the Temple Mount, in Arabic known as the Haram al-Sharif, in Jerusalem, as a platform for incitement against Israel in general and Jews in particular.

This incitement, which began after Jewish tourists were permitted to resume their visits to the holy site in 2014, has since taken various forms. The Jewish visits to the holy site had been suspended for several years during the Second Intifada uprising, which erupted in September 2000.

Since 2014, the Palestinian Authority leadership, including President Mahmoud Abbas, have been waging an unprecedented wave of incitement against Israel and Jews to protest visits to the Temple Mount.

In 2015, Abbas announced that the Palestinians “won’t allow Jews with their filthy feet to defile our Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

He went on to praise Palestinians who were ready to sacrifice their lives in order to stop Jews from visiting the holy site: “We bless every drop of blood that has been spilled for Allah and Jerusalem. Every martyr (Shahid) will reach Paradise, and everyone wounded will be rewarded by Allah.”

Antisemitic, Racist, and Anti-Israel: Jewish Voice for Peace Hits the Trifecta

Quote

According to its website, “Jewish Voice for Peace [JVP] is guided by a vision of justice, equality and freedom for all people. We unequivocally oppose Zionism because it is counter to those ideals.”

In rationalizing this position, JVP displays arrogance, myopia, paternalism, and disregard for facts and history. Its positions are not just anti-Israel, but racist and antisemitic.

That very first sentence quoted above from JVP’s “Our Approach to Zionism” page misrepresents Zionism. The definition of Zionism is the belief that the Jewish people are a nation entitled to self-determination in their homeland, which is Israel. It says nothing specifically about justice, equality, and freedom; but in its ultimate expression, namely, the State of Israel, it provides all of these to its citizens (and non-citizen residents).

JVP lies when it claims that Israeli Jews have more rights than others, and that Zionism is a “settler-colonial movement.” All citizens, Jews and non-Jews, have equal rights under Israeli law. The canard that Zionists are colonialists is popular with the extreme left, which misuses the word to tar Israel.

Pope Francis praises UAE as “model of coexistence” with “respect for diversity”

“Pope praises respect for diversity in United Arab Emirates,” by Cindy Wooden, Catholic News Service, January 31, 2019

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — “Al Salamu Alaikum,” Arabic for “peace be with you,” Pope Francis said at the beginning of a video message to the people of the United Arab Emirates, which he will visit Feb. 3-5.

“I am happy that in a few days I will be able to visit your country, a land that strives to be a model of coexistence, human brotherhood and encounter among different civilizations and cultures where many find a secure place to work and live freely in respect for diversity,” Pope Francis said.

Foreign workers and other expatriates account for about 80 percent of the population in the United Arab Emirates, a federation of seven emirates on the southeast edge of the Arabian Peninsula. The Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia, which includes the emirates, Oman and Yemen, estimates almost 1 million of those foreigners are Catholic….
