Soft Sharia in Turkey

Quote

The good news about Turkish justice is that despite 15 years of not-so-creeping Islamization, court verdicts do not yet sentence wrongdoers to public lashing, stoning, amputations or public hangings in main city squares. The bad news about the Turkish justice system is that it is increasingly religiously ideological, reminiscent of the Ottoman justice system where non-Muslims were legally inferior to the Muslims and were, in principle, expected to be constantly reminded of their inferiority to the dominant community through restrictions and markers.

In 21st century Turkey, fortunately, there are not [yet] markers revealing non-Muslim citizens or laws discriminating against non-Muslims. Nevertheless, with or without markers, there is positive discrimination in favor of pious Muslims and against the others. Turkish law enforcement is embarrassingly pro-pious Sunni Muslim.

Turkey, nominally, is not a Sharia state. But it is becoming one on a de facto basis. In January, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government issued a decree stipulating that law enforcement officials, including security officials, police and coast guard officers, could lose their jobs if they marry a “known adulterer.” The legislation reads that law enforcement officials cannot “intentionally marry a person who is known to be impure, or to stay in a marriage, or continue to live with such a person.” The offense is punishable by up to 24 months’ suspension from work. In addition, the decree covers stricter rules against drinking, gambling, the vague and emphatic “going to places that would ruin your reputation,” as well as “excessive spending,” all while off duty.

The Strasbourg Terror Attack – Only the Names Have Changed

Quote

“Ladies and gentlemen, the story you are about to see is true. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.” That was the opening line for the well-known TV and radio show “Dragnet,” which told the story of criminals and law enforcement authorities’ efforts to stop them.

The abbreviated version of that slogan, “Only the names have been changed” may well be applied to the latest terror attack that occurred in Strasbourg, France. A gunman identified as Cherif Chekatt shouting “Allahu Akbar” opened fire last Tuesday on a crowd enjoying the annual Christmas Market, snuffing out the lives of five innocent people and wounding 13 others. ISIS has claimed credit for the heinous attack.

A close examination of the incident and the perpetrator reveals an all too familiar pattern.

Cherif Chekatt, a French Moroccan with an extensive criminal history, was radicalized in prison, “known to authorities” and was on a terrorist watch list.

We have heard that description too many times in recent years to not feel both frustration and anger.

Italy Adopts Hardline Immigration Law

Quote

The Italian Parliament has approved a tough new immigration and security law that will make it easier to deport migrants who commit crimes and strip those convicted of terrorism of their Italian citizenship.

Italy’s lower house of parliament, the Camera dei Deputati, voted 396 to 99 on November 28 to approve the new law, which was sponsored by Interior Minister Matteo Salvini. The law had previously been approved by the Italian Senate on November 7. The measure was promulgated by President Sergio Mattarella on December 3.

Also known as the “Security Decree” or the “Salvini Decree,” the new law includes several key provisions:

Eliminates Humanitarian Protection. A primary objective of the new law is to limit the number of migrants granted asylum in Italy. To achieve this aim, Article 1 of the decree abolishes residence permits for so-called humanitarian protection, a form of security available to those not eligible for refugee status.

Muslim migrant wanted to blow up St. Peter’s and bomb all Italian churches at Christmas when “the churches are full”

Quote

This plot was foiled, but there will be others. The Islamic aspiration to conquer Rome is longstanding.

“Imam Ahmad reported in his Musnad that Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin Al-‘As (may God be pleased with him) reports, Whilst we were around the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) writing down, he was asked, ‘Which of the two cities is to be opened first, Constantinople or Rome?’ He (the Prophet) answered, ‘The city of Heraclius will be opened first!’” (Imam Ahmad, and Al-Albany)

Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradawi quoted this hadith a few years ago and added: “This means that Islam will return to Europe as a conqueror and victor, after being expelled from it twice – once from the South, from Andalusia, and a second time from the East, when it knocked several times on the door of Athens.”

And the Saudi Sheikh Muhammad bin Abd Al-Rahman Al-‘Arifi, imam of the mosque of King Fahd Defense Academy, once boasted: “We will control the land of the Vatican; we will control Rome and introduce Islam in it. Yes, the Christians, who carve crosses on the breasts of the Muslims in Kosovo – and before then in Bosnia, and before then in many places in the world – will yet pay us the Jiziya [poll tax paid by non-Muslims under Muslim rule], in humiliation, or they will convert to Islam.”

Israeli NGO Slams UN for Soliciting Money for Palestinian Aid as Terror Payments Continue

Quote

An Israeli NGO has criticized the United Nations for soliciting $350 million to fund a humanitarian relief plan for Palestinians next year at the same time the Palestinian Authority is spending a similar sum on payments to terrorists and their families.

“Instead of the UN asking donor countries to contribute $350 million to provide for Palestinian humanitarian needs, the UN should be joining the unequivocal call from many governments that the PA immediately stop squandering the $355 million dollars of its own funds on its ‘Pay for Slay’ policy that incentivizes and rewards terrorism, and instead spend that money on needy Palestinians,” Maurice Hirsch and Nan Jacques Zilberdik, of Palestinian Media Watch, said. “Were the UN to adopt this basic and elementary moral requirement, it would strengthen the international forces that are mobilizing against the PA’s terror support.”

“Abolishing the ‘Pay for Slay’ policy would re-open the door for the PA to receive the approximately $215 million dollars of US aid to the PA withheld by the Taylor Force Act,” they added. “Abolishing the PA’s ‘Pay for Slay’ policy would also avert the imminent deduction by Israel of the PA’s expenditure on the salary program from the tax revenues Israel collects and transfers to the PA. Moreover, it would ensure that the PA would not lose its Australian funding and part of its funding from The Netherlands. As more international donors withdraw their funding due to the PA’s insistence on paying salaries to terrorists, it is obvious that the so-called Palestinian ‘humanitarian’ crisis is a self-imposed crisis, created by the PA and its leaders.”
