The man who took a woman hostage at a train station in Germany yesterday, pledged allegiance to ISIS and strapped a home-made bomb to the hostage’s chest before he was shot by police.
Police believe the man is a 55-year-old Syrian citizen who arrived in Germany in 2016, after finding an ID card at the scene of the crime ‘likely’ belonging to the perpetrator.
During the tense two-hour standoff with police at Cologne’s main train station yesterday afternoon, he reportedly doused the woman with gasoline and threatened to set her on fire.
The unnamed man walked into a McDonald’s at Cologne’s main train station just before 1pm Monday, where he lit a Molotov cocktail.
The burning gasoline flask injured two people, including a 14-year-old girl, after which the man moved with the hostage into the pharmacy.
