Scenes from a “moderate” “Palestinian” university

During his press conference in Jerusalem today on the “peace process,” U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry criticized Israel again, but did not place any emphasis at all on the fact that the Palestinian Authority tolerates (and in many cases actively encourages) incitement to kill Jews.

One hopes that U.S. diplomats who subscribe to this list will draw his attention to the shocking photos below.

How We Vanquished the Small Pox – Fascinating!

Smallpox is a horrible disease. In past centuries, it had spread like wild fire. It has killed an estimated 400,000 Europeans annually during the closing years of the 18th century (including five reigning monarchs), and was responsible for a third of all blindness. Of all those infected, 20–60%—and over 80% of infected children—died from the disease. Smallpox was responsible for an estimated 300–500 million deaths during the 20th century.

But our suffering of this disease, and our battle against it, started much longer before that, even thousands of years ago, and it involves a buddhist nun, a boy, a cow, a dairymaid and a physician. This is the story of how we beat one of the worst diseases ever to be suffered by man.

It pertains mainly to foreign places but, since the United States are coming increasingly to resemble foreign places, many of the suggestions are applicable there as well. In many places in the United States, it is necessary to learn enough of the local foreign language to get by and the article explains how to do so with ease. That will permit intimate exploration of the strange new local foreign cultures.

Boredom, the Curse of the Cruising Life
