About a boy and a fish

Long, long ago there lived a very inquisitive little boy who loved his family.  He was a sensitive lad and a silly one at that.

He loved dirt, trees, butterflies and all bodies of water.  Outside, was where he preferred to be, whenever possible.  He played sports in school but was distracted by the bugs, birds and butterflies that got in his way while trying to concentrate on the games.

His family was known in town for loving the game of baseball and living it night and day.  He followed his cousin’s footsteps and became a pretty good pitcher and hitter although not to the degree that his eldest cousin did.

The problem was, that this young boy did not feel the passion that he was expected to have for the game.  He tried, but baseball was simply, not for him.

Eerie images of London in the fog: Grim mid-winter pictures of the capital in the early part of the 20th century

As the balmy weather of recent weeks is set to last, winter seems a long way off in most parts of the country.

But a collection of photographs from the early 20th century is sure to send a chill down the spines of those who thought colder days would never come, with its grim depiction of dark, long drawn winters in the 1900s.

Among the dreary images which capture London’s quintessentially British climate are several of the city’s Great Smog of 1952, in addition to others which depict the clammy, summer fogs of the past century.

Putin tells Obama: show us proof Syrian regime was behind chemical attacks

The Russian President told journalists that if Barack Obama had evidence Bashar al-Assad’s forces had the chemical weapons and launched the attack, Washington should present it to the UN weapons inspectors and the Security Council.

Speaking after the US released its intelligence report, Mr Putin said: “I am convinced that it (the chemical attack) is nothing more than a provocation by those who want to drag other countries into the Syrian conflict, and who want to win the support of powerful members of the international arena, especially the United States.”

Christian Sentenced to Death by Hanging for Drinking Water Reserved for Muslims

Aasiya Noreen “Asia” Bibi has been sentenced to death by hanging in Pakistan for drinking water “from a well belonging to Muslim women, [and] using ‘their’ cup in the burning heat of the midday sun.”

According the The New York Post, Asia described her plight thus: “I have been sentenced to death because I was thirsty. I’m a prisoner because I used the same cup as those Muslim women, because water served by a Christian woman was regarded as unclean by my stupid fellow fruit pickers.”

After her initial lockup, Asia was then moved to a remote prison, where she sits isolated in a cell. She says she has no idea how long she has to live and admits that her heart beats faster every time her cell door is opened.
