Faces at the Fair – ‘The Pinky Ring’ & ‘Friends’

Meticulous Mick

I was warned to be careful in going up to Cahirmee Horse Fair in Buttevant, armed with a camera and a couple of lenses. I needn’t have worried at all, along with the ‘Fair Girl‘ there were others asking for their images to be recorded and all were good craic and enjoying the fair. It’s like with anyone, treat them with a bit of respect ……..

The first picture shows a group of four horse traders that I chatted to and wanted their group picture taken. If you are looking at this and are one of the four, thank you so much.

In the second picture which I have entitled ‘The Pinky Ring’ this youth was shouting for his photo to be taken as he trotted down on this rather undersized pony. It’s a pity the shadows were so strong. At first I was reluctant to put this…

Nigel Farage is a great excuse for David Cameron to ditch the TV debates

Just when Dave thought the summer was going his way, Bernard Jenkin lasers in on two internal issues that will dog the Prime Minister between now and the election. Nigel Farage? A great excuse to ditch the TV debates in 2015. Coalition? Only if Tory MPs give David Cameron permission, and then only if he is free to do what’s necessary to eliminate the deficit. Tories are uneasy about giving the Ukip leader free publicity but fear Mr Cameron will be unable to resist media demands for four-way debates. And many of them hate the idea of a repeat coalition with the Lib Dems: they want to make it impossible for their leader to cut a deal without their permission.

Watching the American media from the other side of the world is depressing. It is almost as if they have an interest in promoting riots and violence.

Wasting Time On Palestinian Fantasies

PA Pundits - International

caruba_alan20080111By Alan Caruba ~Cartoon - Gaza 2

After the state of Israel declared its independence and sovereignty in 1948 it was attacked by its Arab “neighbors” repeatedly until they concluded that was a bad idea. The name Palestine comes from ancient Rome and, in more recent times from the former British Mandate to oversee the holy land dating back to the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. There were no Palestinian citizens then, nor are there any now because Palestine is not a state, nor ever was.

So, in a world:

# where the Syrian regime has been slaughtering thousands of its own people,

# where the Egyptians just got rid of their second dictator in two years,

# where bombs are going off daily in Iraq,

# where the Iranians are getting closer every day to making their own nuclear weapons,

# where our Recession cum Depression is spreading in Europe and South…

Britain Should Ignore United States and Quit the European Union

Beyond the Cusp

Ever since Britain tied their fates with that of the Continent joining originally the Common Market and later its mutated big brother, the European Union, they have had a rocky relationship with Britain considering breaking off numerous times. Every single time Britain considered going off on their own the United States hit their panic button and rallied to keep Britain economically and financially tied into the Continent. Once again Britain is having second thoughts especially with the European Union once again complaining and blaming many of their ills on the British membership. Many British Parliament Ministers and a plurality if not an outright significant percentage of the population have basically come to their wit’s ends with their animosity further aggravated by consistent attempts by the Brussels bureaucracy to marginalize the City of London through hostile regulations. Add to that the economic perils now threatening the European Union are simply another…

The Origins of MM

Meticulous Mick

I was given my blogging name of Meticulous Mick by my fellow gardener The Sage as when it came to weeding etc. I would look to get every little blighter out of the beds. The bed had to perfect.

And here MM strikes again, not content with my first photo of the broom in the garden (the key parts were not sufficiently sharp) I had to go back and get a better shot. So here is my revised offering of the Broom in the garden and I hope I have captured the beauty of this humble plant. I think I am happy with it now.
