Ed Miliband, conviction politician: now if he’d only tell us what his convictions are

Last night Radio 4 broadcast Steve Richards’ interesting little profile of Ed Miliband, entitled “What does Ed Miliband really think?” The answer, according to most of yesterday’s papers, is that he currently thinks he’s Margaret Thatcher. Which is a bit unfair, given what he actually said in the broadcast was: “She was a conviction politician and I think conviction really matters. I think that in the 1970s, it was a similar moment, and that is the biggest parallel.”

It could have been a lot worse. He could have claimed he was Napoleon, for example. Or perhaps Judy Garland. That would have presented a proper communications challenge: “Ed, I’m not sure those ruby slippers are going to work in Corby.”

Please send me, as a comment to this page, any old material you have for inclusion in The Daily Joke Alert - to help enable us all to have our fancy tickled regularly! Never mind the state it's in as I tidy everything up prior to publication. Don't let good material go to waste - and so much does. In the interests of the environment we should always try to re-cycle everything, especially jokes. You know that makes sense! You may find some historical stuff here, but this does not really matter as humor is fairly timeless.
